Town of Whitby bylaw re: e-bikes and e-schooters
This message serves as a reminder of the Town of Whitby by-law regarding student use of e-bikes and e-scooters. Please see the attachment or visit the link below for details:
E-scooter and E-bike By-law | Town of Whitby
Under a Town of Whitby bylaw, children under the age of 16 are not permitted to operate e-bikes or e-scooters.
These devices are classified as motorized mobility devices and are subject to local age and safety restrictions.
We continue to observe an increasing number of under-16 students travelling to and from school using e-bikes and e-scooters. This creates significant safety concerns for students, pedestrians, and crossing guards, particularly during peak arrival and dismissal times.
We kindly request your support in:
- Reminding students and families of the Town of Whitby bylaw and age restrictions,
- Reinforcing that under-16 students should not be travelling to and from school using e-bikes or e-scooters.
Your cooperation is essential in promoting student safety and helping ensure compliance with municipal bylaws.
Thank you for your continued commitment to safe school communities.
